Bizet's Carmen s one of the most popular operas, with it's music and characters know well outside he genre.  But it is more than just a grand spectacle or operatic tragady .  When Bizet created Carman from the short story by Prosper Merrimee, he broke operatic convention by celbrating proletarian and immoral ways of life.  He also vividly brought to life the character of Carmen (almost a side note in the orginal text) as a complex, proud and spirited woman who strives for independence and choice in her life, love and freindships.

Rogue Opera strips away the pomp and pageantry to focus on the power dynamics between the characters and social classes, through the tale of seduction, obsession, rejection and revenge.  With the audience close enough to see blood, captivating  music is raw, powerful and intimate.

Rogue Opera's fully staged production is sung in French with English subtitles.  Our talented cast and creative team are all professionals with backgrounds including BBC Singers, Longborough Festival Opera, Royal Opera House Chorus, English National Opera Chorus, Glyndebourne Festival Chorus and all perform regularly as soloist throughout the UK and Europe.

Pre-Show meal from the The Theatre Cafe, available. 2 courses: £15, 3 courses: £19.95. Please contact the Box Office to book,or through enquiries
