Pirates Of Penzance

Pirates Of Penzance
Our very own Deal Savoyards are presenting four fully staged performances of gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. This operetta is arguably Gilbert and Sullivan’s greatest crowd pleaser, crammed with well known tunes and with a plot ideally suited to Deal’s history and seaside setting. Pity poor Frederic, let down by an incompetent Nursery Maid who has mistakenly apprenticed him to a pirate rather than a pilot. Share his joy in reaching his 21st birthday, escaping from his indentures, and falling for the beautiful Mabel (one of several daughters of the famously Modern Major General), only to have his hopes dashed by a truly fiendish Gilbertian plot twist. Sympathise as a team of local bobbies, not a happy lot, tremulously set forth to take on the notorious Pirate Band. Discover the role played by Queen Victoria in their eventual triumph. Enjoy!
