Heritage Open Day September

Heritage Open Day September

Sunday 16th September 2018

An exhibition of Local History by the Addelam History Research Group.

10am – 4pm

This event is part of the Heritage Open Days 2018 for Deal.

On show will be the latest research and members of the group will be on hand to discuss the results. We normally show large panels of information gleaned from the many sources we have for Deal. A recent find was a 'Handbook to the Downs' from 1867, donated to the British Library by the 'Walmer Club, Cape Province'. This has a detailed description of the whole area over 210 pages with adverts from many local businesses. It has been digitised and is available online to read free.

Topics on show this year will include:

Notable Women of Deal

The Post Office

Street Furniture

Do pick up a leaflet listing all the events happening in Deal. They start on the 8th September. We have new venues to explore that have never been open before, and they are all free on the Heritage Open Days.
