We are delighted to be collaborating with Canterbury Festival to bring you two young musicians who were finalists in their Bursary Competition 2017.

Harriet Tubb, who won the competition, was introduced to the Marimba at age nine, and credits this love to her first music teacher.  Harriet studies at Junior Trinity conservatoire and is part of the Junior Trinity Symphony and Wind Orchestra.  Her ambition is to study music at an Oxbridge University.

Thomas Nettle comes from a musical family as both his parents are professional orchestral musicians.  He has played the cello since the age of 5, and at the age of 7 became a chorister in the choir of Westminster Abbey where he sang for celebrated events.  A highlight of 2016 was playing at the BBC Proms.  He is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and performs with them throughout the UK.
